Notary Public Day November 12 at Price George's Community College

Notary Public Day (NPD) program is a day to recognize Notaries Public for their service and contribution to national and international commerce. This day is filled with learning from top industry officials and experts in the Notary Public profession. As sworn public officials, Notaries Public serve an important role in the prevention of fraud and protection of the parties involved by acting as an official, unbiased witness for certain documents. Because of this important role, all Notaries should understand their duties and responsibilities and properly perform requested notarial acts. NPD is FREE of charge. Invite your family, friends, and co-workers. Everyone is welcome. There will be a special class for anyone interested in becoming a Notary Public. Everyone must complete and submit a registration form.

What Does a Notary Public Do?

A notary public is appointed by the state government to serve an an impartial witness for the signing of important documents.  This includes

• screening the signers
• determining the signer is willing to sign and not under duress or being intimidated
• ensuring that the signer understands what they are signing
• witnessing the signature
